The Stock Exchange tower is a high-rise building in London, at 125 Old Broad Street in the City of London. The tower, completed by Trollope & Colls, was opened by the Queen Elizabeth II in 1972 and it stands at 100 metres with its 26 floors. It was the site of the London Stock Exchange, until 2004, when it moved in Paternoster Square. The original building showed clearly its concrete structure, standing out in the City’s skyline, until it was renovated by Grimshaw Architects through a new glass curtain wall and more offices. In spite of its new energetic efficiency, I think that the this contemporary version has not the same rough beauty of the first one. Which one do you prefer ?
